Introduction.

Enjoy a new and unforgettable adventure in south-west Sardinia!
Two hundred kilometres of coastline washed by an emerald-colour sea, wild and uncontaminated landscapes as well as fully equipped areas for those looking for a holiday with all comforts.

A historical region with various Nuragic and Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine sites; age-old traditions such as the Feast of Sant’Antioco and the Mauritanian Marriage.

Sardinian cuisine brings Mediterranean people together, with Arab couscous and Spaghetti with bottarga (dried grey mullet roe), Sicilian almond pastries and Sebadas, prepared by Sardinian women to greet their herdsmen husbands returning from the transhumance of the livestock. These intense flavours can be enhanced by a glass of Carignano del Sulcis, a ruby red DOC wine brought to Sardinia by the Phoenicians, or a glass of fruity and ethereal Vermentino.

The coast is swept by mistral and sirocco winds bending the age-old juniper trees that protect the sand dunes that may reach a height of 60 m (200ft) and making the south-west of Sardinia a kite-surf and water sports paradise.
A variety of spots ranging from freestyle to wave riding, lagoons and reefs with glassy waves, suitable for beginners through to the most daring kiters.
Alessandro will be there to help you discover new beautiful spots and to guide you through this idyllic paradise.
FKI (Italian kiteboarding association) and First Aid patented, he runs beginners and advanced kitesurfing courses, and also deals with the equipment rental.

Short description of spots on South west shore

The Sardinia's south west coast is a paradise for kitesurfing, with several spots for free-style or waveriding; the "spot offer" covers different kite expertise... from beginner to expert. The spots work principally with the Mistral (NW). During spring and summer the Azore's anticyclone come over the Mediterranean sea bringing winds from N-NW of an average speed about 4-5Bft (15-25 knots), a perfect wind speed for kitesurfing.

Take care. From 1 June to 30 September kitesurfing is strictly forbidden on all sardinan beaches. In this time it's possible to do only in reserved kite beach. On the south west coast there are two authorized kite beaches: Porto Botte (Giba town-CI) and Maddalena Spiaggia (Capoterra town- CA). The Porto Botte kite beach is managed by our crew instead the area in Maddalena.

Wind stats of south west coast: 136 windy days with more than 4 Bft from January to August (57% windy days - stats about Porto Botte spot from windguru - year 2007) . Instead the famous Porto Pollo had just 83 windy days (35% windy days)

this section is under construction...soon we add other spot

Golfo di Palmas > Porto Botte:
It's our home spot, with perfect conditions for freestyle. The Porto Botte beach is in the Golfo di Palmas's bay . Looking the kite map you note that the spot is below the Sant'Antioco's strait ; this bottleneck sets an incredible increasing of wind speed . It isn't a tale..that when forecast says about 10-15 knots of mistral, in Porto Botte we have 20-25 knots.

The spot is in a sandy big bay (about 2 km) with a shallow-sea and no sea-streams..so it's good both for beginners and expert riders. The spot works with mistral that blows side-on shore with flat water.

Reccomended kite size: from 8 mq to 14 mq (for a rider of 75 kg).

Required expertise: beginners - expert riders.

There is an authorized kite beach of about 1200 mq. Rules for using the kite area

How to get there: sat. coords N 39° 2' 6" O 8° 34' 24.24". .

Isola di S.Antioco > Spiaggia Grande:
The spot is on the north west shore of S.Antioco island (see the kitemap). With light winds it's perfect for free-style but we like it with storms from south west or north..the waves can be about 3 mt.

The beach is about 1 km. The spot with flat water is good for beginner, but with waves it's strictly reccomended only to expert riders, cause the beach is to narrow and the wind direction is on-shore.. .just for more fun there are also many danger rocks in the water.

Reccomended kite size: from 8 mq to 14 mq (for a rider of 75 kg).

Required expertise: only expert riders.

the kitesurf is strictly forbidden from May to September.

How to get there: sat. coords N 39° 5'6.16" O 8°21'31.43" .

Isola di S.Antioco > Spiaggia di Coequaddus:
The spot is on the south east shore of S.Antioco island (see the kitemap). It's a nice spot wave with storm from East and South-East, the spot is more easy and safe than Spiaggia Grande.

There isn't enough space for many kite but the waves are nice (about 2 mt). Usually we go there when it's too late for reach Chia, that is the best spot with south winds (SE-E).

Reccomended kite size: from 8 mq to 14 mq (for a rider of 75 kg).

Required expertise: only expert riders.

the kitesurf is strictly forbidden from May to September.

How to get there: sat. coords N 38°58'54.36" O 8°26'32.43" .

Gonnesa > Funtanamare
It's our spot wave, due to its radical and danger conditions someone called it the "sea-hell".

The Funtanamare beach is near the town of Gonnesa. The spot is a big beach about 3 km. Two days of mistral about 18 knots are enough to have waves about 3 mt and more.
There are many strong sea-stream and rocks near che shore break so we strictly reccomend this spot only for expert riders.

Reccomended kite size: from 8 mq to 14 mq (for a rider of 75 kg). Required expertise: only expert riders.

the kitesurf is strictly forbidden from May to September. During summer it's possible to kiting only when the sea conditions are too danger for people.
